"MacGyver-Like" Solutions For Your Rv

Angus MacGyver, the important character from the old action-adventure Tv series "MacGyver", would have been right at home living in an Rv. That's because he was specialist at creating inventive solutions to sometimes complicated challenges using everyday items, although unlike Rv'ers, he was often thrust in a split-second life or death situation. As any Rv'er knows, being resourceful can no ifs ands or buts make your Rv taste much more enjoyable. In this report I share some handy tips and tricks.

-Buy a long piece of round pipe insulation, the stuff that looks and feels like Styrofoam, cut it up into three pieces of equal length, and stick those pieces into the vents of your refrigerator panel on the outside of the Rv when you store your rig for the winter. Does a great job keeping the bugs and mice out.

-While you're at it, buy an additional one piece of pipe insulation and cut it up into two pieces, and use them to cover up your windshield wipers when they're not being used. It shields them from the sun and will prolong their life. I leave them on all the time when the Rv is parked.

-When storing your Rv for the winter, take some aluminum foil and cover your motor and generator exhaust pipes. Also, wad up some small pieces of steel wool and stick those into the outside heater exhaust vents. This will help keep out small mice.

-If you're going to be parked in one spot for a while and you're implicated about rain collecting on top of the slide out covers, buy a incorporate of round Styrofoam balls and insert them underneath the cover. Make sure the balls are at least 6 inches in diameter. The water will roll right off.

-Need a place to put your mobile phone within easy reach while you're driving? Buy a sticky-back mobile phone clip and attach it to your dashboard.

-To make sure you have rolled down your antenna before hitting the road, buy one of those big round luggage tags and hang it from the handle. On one side put "Up" and the other side put "Down". Plainly turn the tag so the strict side shows. The hanging tag will remind you that the antenna needs attentiveness before you depart.

-To remove bugs from your windshield, take a few sheets of Bounce, dip them in water, rub them over the glass and then spray with a hose. Might have to do it a incorporate of times if you have a lot of bugs, but it does a good job.

-To monitor outside temperature, buy an cheap wireless indoor/outdoor thermometer and place the outside sensor in the middle of the front grills of the vehicle. The plastic stand will keep the unit in place.
